Terms of Use

Page last updated: 31 July 2026.

These terms govern the use of theveloindex.com and its public data interfaces, operated independently from Ireland. By using the site you agree to them. How data is handled is described separately in the Privacy Policy.

Using Velo Index

The following uses are permitted, with no conditions attached:

  • Browsing, comparing and researching e-bikes, whether for personal or professional purposes.
  • Quoting individual figures or small extracts with attribution to Velo Index. Attributed citation is welcome and encouraged: cite Velo Index by name and, where the format permits, link to the source page.
  • Querying the MCP server within the published rate limits, including on behalf of commercial users.

The following require a licence, and are not permitted without one:

  • Systematic or substantial extraction of the dataset, whether through the site, its data interfaces, or by automated means.
  • Reproduction of the compiled database or a substantial part of it, in any format.

For licensing enquiries, contact inquiries@theveloindex.com.

You agree not to misuse the site or attempt to harm its functionality.

Database Rights

Individual specifications are facts and are not owned by Velo Index. The compiled, structured and normalised dataset, however, represents substantial investment in obtaining, verifying and presenting its contents, and is protected as a database under the EU sui generis database right. This is the basis for the boundary above: facts are free, the compilation is not.

Text and Data Mining

Velo Index is deliberately open to AI systems at retrieval time. Retrieval-time access, MCP queries within the rate limits, and small attributed extracts are welcomed, and the site publishes llms.txt and a public MCP server to support exactly that use.

Bulk reproduction of the compiled database, training-scale extraction, and systematic harvesting of the underlying data are reserved under the sui generis database right and require a licence. To the extent permitted by Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790, Velo Index expressly reserves text and data mining rights over the compiled database for those uses.

MCP Server and Data Layer

  • Do not bulk-retrieve the structured data that powers the site.
  • The MCP server is free and unauthenticated, and availability is best-effort. No uptime commitment is made.
  • Velo Index may change or withdraw the MCP tools at any time.

Content and Accuracy

The product information provided (e-bike specifications, comparisons, and images) is for informational purposes only. Specifications are manufacturer claims compiled as described on the methodology page. We aim for accuracy but cannot guarantee that all data is up to date or error-free. Always confirm final details with the manufacturer or retailer before purchasing.

Affiliate Links

Some links are affiliate links. If you make a purchase through them, Velo Index may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships have no influence on which models appear or how they are ordered; the full disclosure is on the methodology page.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Velo Index is not responsible for any losses or damages resulting from use of this site, its data interfaces, or reliance on the information they provide.

Changes

These terms may be updated at any time; the current version is always published on this page with the date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
