Velo Index is an independent e-bike specification database. Stats refresh on every production deploy; this page URL stays stable so prior citations continue to resolve. Each row in the data tables above has a stable anchor (right-click any row label for the deep link).

Methodology

Expand any term below to read the assumption behind it. All text remains in the page source for indexing.

Dataset
Figures are computed from 1,372 e-bike variants from 71 brands. Sample size by region: 566 EU, 464 UK, 342 US.
Specifications
Each row reflects manufacturer-published specifications, normalised against a single schema covering price, motor, battery (Wh), weight (kg), claimed range (miles, converted to km where relevant), torque (Nm), drivetrain sensor type, form factor and US class. Stats are computed from per-model fields only. Brand-level default fields are never used as fallbacks for per-model statistics.
Claimed range
Range figures are the manufacturer-stated maximum and are inherently optimistic. Real-world range depends on terrain, assist level, rider weight, temperature and tyre pressure. The km-per-100-Wh efficiency figure inherits the same optimism and should be read as a relative comparator across the dataset rather than an absolute prediction.
Central tendency
Every figure on this page is a median except where explicitly labelled an average or a percentile. Medians are used to reduce the influence of luxury and entry-level extremes.
Outlier policy
Outliers excluded from numeric distributions: prices above $15,000 (in any local currency) and claimed ranges above 300 km (186 miles). Outliers remain in total dataset counts.
Inclusion guard
Any statistic computed from fewer than 30 models is excluded from this page automatically. This applies to both regional and per-form-factor breakdowns.
Currency
EU figures are in EUR, UK in GBP, US in USD. Currencies are never converted or blended. A single global price figure would be statistically meaningless across these markets.
Update cadence
Stats refresh automatically on every production deploy. The data-as-of date shown above and the schema dateModified value both follow the deploy timestamp. This page URL is permanent; deep links and citations remain valid across refreshes.
