Will a sub-50 lb e-bike work with a standard car bike rack?

A bike under 50 lbs, especially with its battery removed before loading, sits within the ratings of far more racks already on people's cars.
The rack's own published per-tray rating is still the figure that governs, so verify it against the bike's listed weight rather than assuming. Removing the battery before lifting typically saves 4 to 8 lbs and is good practice for transport regardless of rack type.
Does a lighter e-bike mean a weaker motor?
Not in the way the spec sheet suggests. A motor has less mass to move on a lighter bike, so a modest motor in a 40 lb bike often feels livelier in city riding than a nominally stronger motor hauling a 75 lb frame.
