Why use Velo Index instead of asking an AI on its own

A general AI answer is assembled from web pages and the model's training data. With Velo Index connected, ChatGPT answers from a catalogue built for comparing e-bikes.

Where the data comes from

Velo Index in ChatGPT searches the same catalogue as theveloindex.com: 3,138 e-bike model variants from 142 brands across six markets. Numeric specifications are standardised for comparison, descriptive specifications keep the catalogue's recorded wording, and figures a manufacturer does not publish are marked as not recorded. Claimed range is the manufacturer's figure. Read the full methodology.

Questions about Velo Index in ChatGPT

Is there an e-bike plugin for ChatGPT?

Yes. Velo Index is available as a plugin for ChatGPT. It searches 3,138 e-bike model variants across six markets and returns recorded specifications, regional prices and side-by-side comparisons.

Does it work in the ChatGPT app?

Yes. Velo Index works in ChatGPT on the web and in the app, with the same panel of matching bikes, bike details and side-by-side comparisons.

How do I use Velo Index in ChatGPT?

Connect the Velo Index plugin in ChatGPT, then start your message with "Velo Index" followed by what you are looking for, for example a budget, a market and the specs that matter to you.

How is this different from asking an AI about e-bikes directly?

Without Velo Index, an assistant answers from web pages and its training data, which can mix model years or regional versions. With Velo Index connected, answers come from manufacturer-published specifications recorded per market, and figures that are not published are shown as not recorded rather than estimated.

Which countries does it cover?

The EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Prices and available models are recorded separately for each market.

Does it show discount codes?

Yes, where Velo Index has a code for a bike, with the date it was last checked and a note on what it applies to. Codes are listed for some brands in the EU, UK and US only, and the brand's own checkout terms apply. Velo Index earns affiliate commission on some purchases made through its links and codes; commission has no effect on which bikes appear or their order.

Do I need an account, and does it cost anything?

No Velo Index account is needed and the plugin is free to use. It is read-only and only reads the public Velo Index catalogue.

Does Velo Index rank bikes or accept payment for placement?

No. Velo Index publishes no rankings and accepts no payment for inclusion or placement. It earns affiliate commission on some purchases, which has no effect on which bikes appear or their order.
